It's amazing what $5 will get you.
I got to Game 3 (series tied 1-1) in the 4th inning with Delweld up 4-3. Delweld added 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to regain their 3-run lead ta 6-3.
In the top of the seventh, Evan Gazza hit a 2-out shot up the middle with the bases loaded. The second baseman couldn't handle it and his throw was off to first, as Martella's made it 6-4.
In the top of the eighth, after 2 quick outs, Martella's dropped a shot into right field, then got a stolen base and a walk to get 2 men on for Sam Watkins. He sent a 3-1 pitch to right field and the throw was cut off, cutting the lead to 6-5.
In the top of the ninth, Delweld had an easy first out but the throw from the third baseman was way high and went into the stands. After a swinging strike out and fly out to center field, Mike Pelekanos lined a 2-2 pitch to center field to tie the game at 6. Things got worse for Delweld as a walk and hit-batsman loaded the bases, but Delweld got a swinging strike out to end the threat.
Delweld came back strong in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases with 1 out (which was a sacrifice bunt). Martella's loaded up the infield with 5 players. Pat Kohl struck out George Roberts and then got Andy Smithmyer to chop it back to the mound and send the game into extra innings.
I had to leave But what a performance from these two teams. Best of all, there was a large and loud crowd on hand, with plenty of support for both teams. I'm saying around 400 people.
Game 4 is tomorrow and one of the teams will have a chance to advance to the national tournament. If you have the chance, be sure to get down to the Point Stadium for the game!
