I am in search of information, past articles, copy of team logo for the 1962 AAABA regional champions from Detroit. The team name was Wally's Standard Service. My dad, Rufus Hayes, played on this team. At the time the team won, each of the players had the opportunity to purchase a "championship" ring. My dad could not afford one. I am trying to locate a picture of the ring or other pertinent team information, along with a team photo. I am attempting to have a replica of the ring made for my dad. If anyone can provide any assistance it would be greatly appreciated.

I have been doing some research in the near future and I'll look for anything from the Johnstown papers.

I do have some 1962 information:
Wed Aug 8 - Defeated JOHNSTOWN 2-0 at Point Stadium (7:30p) Thu Aug 9 - Lost to BUFFALO 2-3 at Cochran (3:00p) Thu Aug 9 - Defeated BALTIMORE 4-3 at Point Stadium (9:00p) Fri Aug 10 - Defeated BROOKLYN 9-8 at Point Stadium (12:00p) Sat Aug 11 - Defeated PHILADELPHIA 9-3 at Point Stadium (12:00p) Sun Aug 12 - Lost to MILFORD 2-6 at Point Stadium (1:00p)
RECORD: 4-2 (27 RF, 23 RA), 3rd Place
Washington beat Milford 11-0 and 3-2 to win the championship.
I'm going to be researching the 1964 Detroit Championship next time I'm in town, I hope. I've got about 20-25 more years before I have all of the game results (more or less) on file.
