www.viennasenators.com/2007%20news%20stories/2009ViennaLimpstoCGLtitleSunGazette.htmlThe article is old (July 31) so maybe things have changed, but it appears Vienna is injured and have already withdrawn from the NBC World Series. Losing Baltimore is tough, but to lose Washington, too? I know other teams would have a better chance, but it's not nearly as much fun if you win with Baltimore AND Washington absent. No word on a back-up team. Also, keep in mind, the article is a week old. There may have been an update to the situation already. Brian_V

Washington (Vienna Seantors) are in a tough spot because they have a number of injuries and alot of their regular players are too old to come to Johnstown. The team is trying to get 14 players together to come to the AAABA. The Senators have been competing in Whicita at the NBC World Series, they have always believed a team from the Clark Griffith League should compete in Johnstown. After the 2003 events that transpired the Senators have decided to pursue other avenues, the Senators are the only reason that the Washington franchise has had a participant in the AAABA the last couple years, even though it was a third place team with 14 or fewer players both years.
This year may be the last year any team has interest from the Washington franchise, and that is too bad. The word is the Senators are doing all they can to get players interseted in playing at the Point.
The late start date is really tough to keep players around who have to get back to school, that is a factor also.
