This just in . . .
Washington's Vienna Senators will not be competing in the Altoona Regional, and will instead be reporting directly to Johnstown for the national tournament. This is because the Chicago-Metro franchise has pulled out of the tournament this year (perhaps due to the possible disbanding of the Glen Ellyn Jam?). The Altoona Mirror is to have an article on the tournament coming up later this week, so keep checking their site for it.
This leaves Altoona, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Maryland State is what is still a top-notch regional. Play begins Saturday (?) and I hope to be there for the weekend games.
Also, Livonia's Michigan Rams will be returning to Johnstown again this season after finishing 2nd in their league. They're the top 20U team, though. Michigan Bulls won the league and are going to the NABF.
Dix Hills Dodgers won the Long Island FABL regular season, which I think is the qualifying league for the New York franchise. I'm not sure if they take the regular season or playoff winner, though. Dix Hills was the representative in 2007, IIRC.
Youse's will be back to represent Baltimore, although with a new manager, as Dean Albany has taken a new position within the organization.
The Vienna Senators from Washington are coached by Chris Burr (who swore he would never return after a dispute with officials about 6 years ago). They should provide stiff competition once again.
Buffalo AAABA playoffs should have started by now, but I haven't see any news. I believe that last year's team (Pignataro's) is out of the running.
Johnstown City League championships begin tonight. Delweld vs Martella's.
