I am finished. No more Buccos. The last 4 years have been a joke. I am tired of a rotating lineup and coaching staff. I am tired of seeing a deteriorating team in a nice ballpark. I am now to the point I am boycotting the Buccos. I don't go see the curve for a reason... because I want to watch MAJOR LEAGUE baseball. (And Pittsburgh is the same distance.)

I am ticked off as well but I am not going to stop being a Bucco fan.
Yes, I am very disappointed about the Nyjer Morgan/Sean Burnett trade. Eric Hinske...I really don't care that we traded him because he wasn't really a big player. Sean Burnett was a good pitcher for us, but hopefully we get someone in the bullpen to take his place.
The Morgan trade was a mistake. It is stupid. Why in the world would you get ride of a player who has skills and brings energy and excitement not only in the game but off the field too. Neal Huntington keeps saying "we are rebuilding our organization" or "it is for the better" but it really isn't. The only thing we are getting out of this are two players who are going to start in the minors and probably won't be up until next season anyway just like all of our other trades. (So actually we are getting nothing out of this)
I am not giving up on them per say, but I am fed up with all these stupid trades.

I am finished. Their Farm System has fallen apart because no one wants to sign with them that has promise and talent... which is why they trade for prospects that are already signed. If someone does happen to flower out of the minors they send them up and trade them off for more prospects... The Nationals have more hope than the Pirates. That... in and of itself is sad. Milledge is a Cancer in the locker room and the pitcher (Hanrahan) is actually fairly decent from what I have heard. (And he should be for giving up Burnett). SO with that... I will continue my Kansas City Royals fan status (I know I know... 2 out of 3 hahahaha).

Should I now become a fan of the Twins or the Brewers?

Nyjer Morgan and Andrew McCutchen would had made a great 1-2 in the batting order with there ability to get on base and steal bases and get extra base hits. Those would have given pitchers nightmares for sure. We don't have a homerun threat at all. Adam Laroache will be traded from what I've heard. Jack Wilson, Freddie Sanchez will probably next but lets hope not. All Pirate fans have to do is just stop going to games and stay home. That will teach managment especially the owners of the team the Nutting family.
The Curve due to the Pirates lack talent but this does happen alot in the minors. State College Spikes are what they are, college kids and latin players but the last 2 years the Pirates have not had there #1 draft pick there for more then 5 days( Sanchez for 4 games and Alverez zero). I've never checked out yet independent baseball, Washington Wild Things, York Revolution, or Lancaster Barnstormers but plan to go to a York Revolution game at some point this year.
A few days ago I was listening to home plate XM 175 and with Donald Fehr out as head of the players union and his replacement coming next year the chances are there for a salary cap, I repeat a real salary cap so that everybody has a chance. The economy has taken it's hit this year in MLB, attendence is down all over, salaries are off the board and the fans have to pay for it, high cost of tickets, food, beverages, parking and ect. A salary cap is a must for MLB. NHL, NBA and NFL have it and it works for them most of the time. The baseball world doesnt revolve around the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox or LA Dodgers there are 26 other teams. It may take a few years or a work stopage to get a salary cap but it would be the right thing to do for everybody.

I have been a Yankee fan since the days of the Bronx Zoo actually. I will never forget Reggie Jackson breaking up a double play by "hipchecking" the throw from second to first by the LA Dodgers. Was that in 78 or 81?
But it's always fun to back an underdog. See 08 Rays.

Well, then I'll buy your fandoms and sell them back to you in a few years when the Pirates are winning and you're begging to go to games.
The last *four* years have been a joke? Four?
Home runs are overrated. Doubles and triples are more exciting. In my opinion, home runs kill rallies. Yeah, you score the runs, but then there's no one left on base.
Offense hasn't been the big problem for the Pirates. The problem has been pitching. Look at the trade they've been making and they're all for young, talented pitchers.
'Giving up Burnett'? Burnett was good?
From what I've been reading, the Pirates are getting the nod in all these trades. We're giving up decent present talent for good future talent. In some cases, great future talent.
And we're still only 5 games below 0.500.
I saw a game in York and it was . . . well. Coming from Johnstown where we get to see young high school / college kids at the start of their careers, it was weird seeing fat old guys at the end of theirs. I'm pretty sure I could have outran some of the players. Granted I'm not a baseball expert, but I wasn't all that impressed with the talent. I'd take AAABA over Atlantic League anyday.
Personally, I'm excited about the moves we've been making. I'm still holding out hope for this season, but I'm expecting even more in a year or two.

Burnett was decent. He was just like most of our bullpen pitches-he was not very consistent. I think why I am mad about the trades at this exact point is because we just traded one of the most exciting and loved players in Pittsburgh. Nyjer was a good player and I liked watching him play. Now, I am not saying I am not going to enjoy watching Hanrahan and Milledge play, but when I first saw their stats I was thinking to myself "Oh boy, we trade away Nyjer for these two who are not doing so good? How are we benefiting out of this?" Honestly, in the past hours my mind is slowly starting to change about it. I will give Huntington some credit because he is willing to have our staff work with these guys and develop them as great players. I am all for that. The main thing I was ticked off about was that we got rid of Nyjer. I still believe in us. We can get over .500 this year. We are not that far away any how like Brian said. I am still a fan (along with Brian.....I think we are the only two left on this board who actually are still fans) and I will always be one! Let's Go Bucs!

Which would be equivalent to Hanrahan anyhow... The Washington Nationals gave up on him... a last place franchise. And what the heck does a trade like Milledge for Morgan do? Let's trade the heart of the team for a guy that causes nothing but problems. I see no value in this trade. I could see value in trading Nate McClouth... but not this recent trade. I hope they can raise the Jolly Roger more oft than naught but I can't see it. I'd rather just save my baseball journies until August

Jack Wilson was tired too... Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson apologized today for his remarks yesterday criticizing the team's latest round of trades. Just after the clubhouse opened to members of the media before tonight's scheduled game against the Chicago Cubs, Wilson urged reporters to come to his locker because he wanted to get something off his chest. "I really didn't sleep last night, I think some of my comments were pretty harsh," Wilson said. "When you are here, and in the moment and you are talking to guys and everyone is bummed out, you tend to lose your head a little and vent. A lot of the things I said, I thought about last night talking to my wife and they were pretty inaccurate, I would say. "I definitely don't want to be that guy who is butting heads with the organization or trying to cause any type of negativity, so, I apologize for that." Wilson also made a point to get across that his comments today were done not by the urging of anyone within the organization, but only after he spoke to his wife and after he had realized what he said yesterday could (and probably had been) construed as a negative by many. "I haven't talked to anybody, I haven't talked to Neal [Huntington] or anybody like that," Wilson said. "I just felt like that's not the person, that's not the player I want to be for the Pittsburgh Pirates. I am definitely passionate about winning, about being a Pirate and I think sometimes it comes out in a negative way. For that, I definitely apologize." Yesterday, in response to the trades, Wilson said he was "beyond, beyond tired" of such moves.Of management, Wilson also went on to say yesterday, "They're businessmen. They're trying to achieve winning baseball in Pittsburgh. The biggest question is: When is that going to be? When do things start turning around? It's just hard for guys who have been here and seen these exact same trades happen and seen it absolutely do nothing. I've been here nine years. I've seen two or three of these trades every year and still haven't had a winning season." www.post-gazette.com/pg/09182/981168-100.stm?cmpid=latest.xml#ixzz0K3F0evYB&D

Yes, the last 4 years have bothered me the most. Yes... glad to Olendorf had a good game because he has been due a good game sometime this year. Still only 5 games out of .500? Thanks to interleague play... I would like to see .500 in the central division ... that would be AMAZING!

Even though Jack did apologize (which I think is very classy and professional of him...way to go Jack! Good decision), I still agree with him on what he said yesterday and how he is tired of the trades.
Ross had a great game yesterday. I am very glad to see that he pitched that well.
