A few more came to mind:
The time our goalie left his stick in the crease prior to leaving the ice when being pulled for the extra attacker. Whoever we were playing shot the puck towards the empty net and the stick stopped it, but they were awarded a goal anyway.
Heinze going into net in an emergency goalie situation.
I can't remember if it was the same time, but I recall the goalies getting into a fight and the glove and blocker ending up in the stands prior to the fight. Whoever got them in the stands took them and I believe bailed. I vaguely recall the Chiefs asking through the media if they could return them! (someone set me straight if I'm remembering that all correctly)

I remember March 27, 1973.( had to look up the March 27th part) The Jets jump out to a 3-0 1st period lead over the Roanoke Valley Rebels. Wayne Horne scores half way through the 3rd overtime to give the Rebels the 4-3 victory. Ron Docken was in net for the Jets. The next day one of my high school teachers told me to put my head down and take a nap in class because he knew I was up late the night before. He was also at the game . That was the longest game I have ever seen in person.

You are correct. I don't think it was both the glove and blocker, but I'm pretty sure it was the goalies glove.

I remember sitting in section 3 one night, behind the visitors bench. A puck came flying up in the stands, and sliced open some kids forehead. Blood everywhere. Everybody just kind of sat there, stunned, not knowing what to do. The Erie coach (Ron Hansis??) jumped over the back of the bench with a towel and held pressure on this poor kids head until help got there. Despite all the hatred for the rival Erie team those days, he got a nice round of kudos for that. Funny how quickly the game can become unimportant in a situation like that.

Nice job by coach Hansis.
Ouch, smalltown. Have to sit through that sort of thing and then still have to go to school tomorrow. I think the Chiefs blew a 3-goal lead in Dayton in 2002, and that led to a double-overtime loss in Game 1. Two overtimes is the longest I've seen the Chiefs go, and both were via the radio.

Back in the early 90s, players used to stay with host families. Perry Florio and Mark Green stayed with the Williams's two houses up the road from me. I remember coming home from school one spring afternoon to find Perry Florio shirtless, sunbathing in the front lawn . . . oh, the memories I also have an autographed stick from Florio . . . and illegal autographed stick from Florio Why does a defenseman need that big of a curve, anyway? I remember the Chiefs in 1998 or so trouncing the Hampton Roads Admirals at home late in the season. Like 6-2 or 8-4 or something. Brophy was furious with his team and made them stay after the game at skate, as some vocal Johnstown fans stayed, too, to "encourage" them Brian_V Let's Go Chiefs!

Rumor has it that Brophy also made the team sit on the bus for a "long time" and wait for him while he went out for a cold one after a loss here.....also during the Hampton era.
I remember being a young kid sitting in section 16 watching Brophy and the Long Island Ducks play our Jets. Brophy liked to stick fight, I used to get pretty scared because you just got the feeling you were about to see somebody really get hurt. That is one part of the game I'm glad went away forever.

Brophy was a lunatic. Last year brought a nice memory when Ryan Nie not only set the new single season wins record but shattered Freddie's and Smokey's by winning 29 games. There is no doubt if Mayotte hadnt been in the AHL half the season he would have broke it this year.

I enjoyed watching Brophy's teams. They always played hard every game. High intensity at all times. Was the best coach at this level period.

(I seem to recall that being one of AmyV's best memories ) Of course it was....it was on my birthday! ;D I was actually going to post that, but I forgot the guys name. I don't think you would have understood me if I said "Some guy scored in a shootout and we won" I remember when Jeff Sullivan got checked so hard by where I sit that he was some what knocked out. Whenever the trainer and the players helped him up, he couldn't even stand, and so he fell back down onto the ice. It is not a happy memory, but I still have a faint image of it in my head. I also remember when the one light down by section 20 kept going out in the third period, and we played with the arena half lite. (wasn't that only a couple of years ago??)

What about the bench fight between Toby and Jason Christy??? Yes, that was quite the memorable bitch-slap.

Toledo's Scott Fankhouser (who was like a brickwall that season) getting ejected minutes into the game after throwing his blocker at somebody and I believe the Chiefs going on to win it.
The Schmyr-Yablonski feud.
Brock Kelly.
Rick Boyd bodyslamming someone to the ice.

Petr Skudra drop-kicking the puck after a win. The Stars-and-Stripes room (furthermore, the skate rental booth) and something about throwing donuts at Elvis? I'm still not totally sure what that was all about. Brian_V Let's Go Chiefs!

A few more that come to mind:
1. The night rick boyd gave a fan the finger from the penalty box....I lost whatever small amount of respect I had for him after that.
2. Speaking of lack of respect, I also remember John Bradley confronting a friend of mine after a particularly bad night. We were riding him pretty bad and after the game he recognized us, he goes up to my friend and says something like, 'you can say what you want about me, but you don't say anything about my family'.
Then, this part, is a direct quote: "I'll kill you. I'll kill you and I'll f---king bury you"
Too bad all anyone in my crew said was "BRADLEY, YOU SUCK"
3. How could I forget the night the "dancer" that was "well-endowed" was in town for a show at Frank's Hen House?!?!?!
