Sgroi, always an energetic sort, is downright ecstatic to be getting a chance with Syracuse. He said he was planning on playing in Johnstown anyway this year, on an ECHL deal. If things go OK with the Crunch in the next week, maybe he earns an AHL/ECHL pact.

The rumor has been he was interested in coming back... but you know how rumors and opinions are

in the paper today there was an article about spence resigning. and towards the end it said sgroi and rowe are close to signing

I don't think there is much doubt Mike can play at the AHL level if he can keep his cool. If he ends up back in J-town, good for us for six weeks.
I really enjoyed watching him and Desrochers last year, they worked pretty well together. Seemed they could get quality chances about every shift. And with Sgroi on the ice, you don't have to worry about somebody to "take care of business". Some may disagree, but I found those guys fun to watch.

Amen section13fan. Jean really felt the open ice that Sgroi allowed and was able to perform to his true abilities when he was present on the ice. He had the confidence and foreward movement that a solid forward needs to score. W/ Jean gone I'lll freely admit my fandom for Mike.

Rumor has It Mike Sgroi Will Be Returning To The Johnstown chiefs This Week or Next...Hopefully they release Penner, He is Horrible at everything he does...

Mike Sgroi signed an ECHL contract as did penner, Rvaught, Penner is not that bad. Sgroi will return in a week or two

Ok, so Penner isn't lighting up the goals every night... but guess what, people like him. THAT is what Johnstown needs, someone they can get enthusiastic about. I miss having Tremblay here.

Ahhh Penner was not signed to set the ice on fire with goals!! All we heard with the Tampa system was no was was tough enough to fight, no one would hit, well you got that in Penner. True Sgroi can score at times plus we know he can fight but he is not always a asset when he cannot control himself. Still I will take him as well as Penner, Both of them are what the majority like here and what will bring in the fans, which is VERY important now. Plus to a degree you need players like both of them so that cheap shots are not taken on your key players scorers. NHL teams do it all the time

Penner and Sgroi together is probably as close to old time hockey as we'll ever see. Could be entertaining, to say the least. I know some folks think Sgroi is a little nuts, but remember he was a 25 goal scorer last year.

Sgroi, according to an interview from Syracuse, won't fight for anoth er two weeks when he returns.
